A photochromic naphthalene diimide coordination network sensitized by polyoxometalates.

Metal-ion-directed assembly of naphthalene diimide tectons cooperatively enhanced by anion-π interactions of giant anions, PMo12O40(3-), leads to a novel organic-inorganic hybrid with ultrafast-responsive photochromic properties, which is attributed to the polyoxometalate-sensitized photo-induced radical generation of naphthalene diimide units.

Photo-tunable multicolour fluorescence imaging based on self-assembled fluorogenic nanoparticles.

Non-fluorescent nanoparticles resulting from the self-assembly of a new perylene diimide behave as fluorogenic probes for biological cells under physiological conditions giving a dosage-dependent green or red fluorescence and showing very low cytotoxicity. The emission colour can be tuned by photo-irradiation to achieve multicolour labelling.

Effect of Amide Hydrogen Bonding Interaction on Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Naphthalene Diimide Amphiphiles with Aggregation Induced Emission

In the present work, two new naphthalene diimide (NDI) amphiphiles, NDI-N and NDI-NA, were successfully synthesized and employed to investigate their self-assembly and optical properties. For NDI-NA, which contains an amide group, aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) was demonstrated in the presence of various ratios of methylcyclohexane (MCH) in chloroform, which led to the visual c...

A phosphonic acid appended naphthalene diimide motif for self-assembly into tunable nanostructures through molecular recognition with arginine in water.

A naphthalene diimide motif bearing phosphonic acid functionalities has been found to be self-assembled with L- and D-arginine through chirality induced molecular recognitions and leads to the formation of micrometre long nanobelts and spherical aggregates at pH 9 in water, respectively.

Molecular recognition driven self-assembly and chiral induction in naphthalene diimide amphiphiles.

Naphthalene diimide amphiphiles functionalized with the dipicolylethylenediamine motif self-assemble with tunable chirality upon molecular recognition with various adenosine phosphates and competitive guest binding leads to the dynamic helix reversal of these assemblies.
